Education

Roosevelt County has excellent educational opportunities available from a private Christian school to Portales Municipal Schools and the smaller school districts of Floyd, Dora and Elida. In addition, there are home-schooling support groups available.

Portales Municipal Schools has an integrated school structure, meaning that attendance in schools is set up according to grades, not neighborhoods. Consequently, students learn alongside peers of the same age group.
All Portales schools are modern and updated, featuring extensive renovations, state-of-the-art programs and excellent teachers.

There are four elementary schools (one brand new), a recently built junior high, an alternative education center, and Portales High School. Dual credit courses are available to high school students through local colleges and universities.

Faith Triumphant is a private Christian school in Portales, which offers classes from Pre-k to high school, along with Bible classes every morning.
